Southern Illinois hosts Southland Conference champion Nicholls in Saturday’s opening round of the FCS playoffs.

“I don’t think there’s any denying that if there’s 14 at-large (playoff) teams, that we’re one of those 14 teams,” SIU head coach Nick Hill said.

A win would give the Salukis seven wins. Whether that is enough for the FCS playoff committee to put SIU in the 24-team postseason bracket remains up in the air.
